I’m a work in progress. In fact, just yesterday I had some deep insight into how inflexible I’m tempted to be (content for another post). Reading great content is one way that I’ve made major shifts to my perspective. Second, only to the impact people & life experiences have had on me.
Ultimately, there are 2 major perspective shifts I hope sink in for me each day. Reminders I need. Two perspective shifts I wish for all my clients, friends, & my family. The emotionally healthiest people I know live their lives accordingly.
Two Perspective Shifts
#1: Be Flexible: You have options, you’re not trapped, and you GET to make choices. A rigid perspective is the root cause of fear. Flexibility creates balance and freedom from anxiety. An open heart and mind prepare you for the BEST, rather than expecting the worst. Flexible people accept other people where they’re at, resisting the temptation to control and manipulate. Flexible people take action based on truth, rather than feelings.
#2: Be Yourself: Being honest with yourself is courageous work and a path few dare to take. Honesty leads to self-awareness. Gain the insight to truly KNOW YOURSELF, and how valuable you are, and courageously live this out regardless REGARDLESS of the temptation to hide. You’ll start taking risks, living confidently, relating in ways that help relationships thrive, and not settling. It’s NEVER too late to find yourself.

The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks & Win Your Inner Creative Battles by Steven Pressfield
A clear view of the process of creativity and the battle within that’s holding you back. Understand how resistance (evil, darkness) and self-sabotage (fear, anxiety, your past) hold you back and how to stop it. Inspiration to face your fears and live fully. Steven Pressfield has a unique perspective, is sometimes abrasive, AND speaks the truth.
The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael Singer
FEAR is your problem and mine. Get out of your head and into LIVING LIFE abundantly. Learn about the “psych”, how it formed, and why your mind lies often in an effort to keep you safe. Identify fear when it crops up, face it, and let it go. Not exactly light reading and you may want to read some chapters multiple times, but well worth your effort.
