Clarifying a Vision for Your Future

Vision is the starting point of the Legacy Journey. It’s a clear mental picture of how good your life can be—not based on fear, limits, or past mistakes, but on your potential, opportunity, and what’s possible when you live with intention.

One essential part of clarifying your vision is allowing it to be big and idealistic. A big inspiring vision isn’t practical, and you'll never exactly reach it, yet it’s inspirational. It gives you something worth moving toward.

People are far more motivated moving toward what they want than away from what they don’t want.

That’s why the Legacy Journey coaching process always begins with clarifying a vision. When you create a clear picture of your potential and opportunities ahead, you get energized.

Your vision illuminates your path. The right goals don’t distract you; they lead you toward your vision

A Vision Will Improve Your Life

  • Opens you up to your potential
  • It gives meaning to mundane tasks
  • Decreases anxiety
  • Helps you make the best decisions possible
  • It creates excitement about your future
  • Inspires discipline and focus
  • Eliminates those activities not leading to your vision

"Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." - Carl Jung

People come to Decide Your Legacy for clarity. We ask intentional questions that help them think bigger, see more clearly, and reconnect with what truly matters. Below are the steps they take on the Legacy Journey.

4 Steps to Crafting & Executing Your Vision This Year

1st Step: Create a Foundation

Anxiety, depression, relationship issues, emotional challenges, and low self-worth create blockages to having clarity & being your true self. Work on yourself first.

It can be hard to plan an amazing future, especially if you have unprocessed trauma, grief, anxiety, and/or depression. Your mind won't want to go there, yet it's just what you need.

2nd Step: Write it Down

Write down what your ideal life could look like one year, two years, or five years from now. Don’t overthink it and write down whatever comes to mind intuitively. Dream big and resist the urge to get it “right.”

Set a 15-minute timer and complete the Vision Worksheet. More time on the first pass isn’t better—it’s usually overkill. Clarity comes through action, not perfection. You’ll have opportunities to refine and adjust your vision later as insight and inspiration grow.

3rd Step: Use Filters

Just as a coffee filter removes the grounds and leaves you with the coffee, your vision must be filtered to remain clear and inspiring. A healthy vision is energizing and aligned with your purpose, core values, and core needs. If your vision pulls you out of alignment or demands prolonged imbalance, it isn’t a healthy vision worth pursuing.

4th Step: Take Action

Don’t play it safe. Release your need to control the outcome and take action. Set short-term objectives—one week, one month, three months—that move you closer to your vision. Adjust as you learn and keep moving forward. Remember, progress requires courage, and perfectionism will always slow you down.
